I have been a little selective, mainly showcasing ones that are either successful or ones that I can actually get hold of to use (without breaking the law - I'm not keen on that unlike some).

At the moment, I think all of these may potentially be useful... minus Tahoma and Verdana. I think these web based fonts look terrible out of their screen based context. Ian Thompson agrees with me there, so at least I'm not alone in believing this.
If I had to pick right now...
Serif - Baskerville or Georgia
Sans - Gill Sans
