Garry Barker: Footprint Visit #2

Vickie and Charlotte got down to Footprint today to give the Risograph printer a test drive.

A pdf was taken down full of different image treatments - contrasts, sizes, transparencies, half-tones...the lot. This also included different point sizes in body copy. We really just wanted to see what we could get away with, what we could push to the max and what we needed to be careful of.

The one main issue we did note down was that on certain stock the ink takes an age to dry... perhaps half a day to a whole one? This will mean that gutters on text will need to allow extra room for fingers just in case. The less the ink gets touched the better.

Also we agreed that the work looked best on Context Ivory paper (supplied by Paperback). This is also a 100% recycled stock which fits perfectly into the rationale of the brief.

On the whole everything looked pretty spot on, we just have to be careful of lighter tones as they seem to get easily lost.

Showing Garry tomorrow lunchtime for feedback and preferences on how to take everything forward should be exciting.
